Quilt as You Go techniques have been popular since the first quilter tried to quilt a queen size quilt with their domestic machine. It’s possible to quilt a queen size quilt this way but it’s not that easy.
With this QAYG technique you are able to quilt the blocks at the same time you are piecing the blocks so you are quilting nothing larger than a 13″ square. By quilting the quilt in small sections you can then assemble the quilted sections using the Easy Sashings technique.
- Traditional Sashings – this technique can be used for blocks that are set in a straight setting and the blocks do not have points in the design as this technique uses a 1/2” seam allowance.
